About Me
I was born and raised in Southern California and now living in Orange County, CA. I am married to my patient and supportive husband, Phil, who encourages me in my writing endeavors, even when a writing binge means I forget to make dinner or finish the laundry. He is my rock and best friend, and one of the greatest joys of my life. We have four grown children, who love and serve God, and six beautiful grandchildren scattered in three different states, which means we contrive any way we can to earn more Southwest miles. I homeschooled for 24 years, while volunteering as children’s church director for 15 years. Since 2008 I have been our church’s women’s ministry director.
My love of writing began as a young girl of eight or nine with short stories and simple poems. In high school I combined two of my favorite things, writing and sports, and tried my hand at sports journalism. While home-schooling and as children church director, I wrote curriculum and short children’s stories. I wrote poems for every event and occasion imaginable. I always loved to write, but now my writing has specific purpose: to glorify God and to draw others to Himself. My desire is that whatever poem I write or story I tell, the reader will be immersed in God’s truth, maybe see Him in a new light, and along the way, be filled with compassion, gripped with sorrow, hung in suspense, or overcome with laughter as each chapter unfolds.
Some fun facts when I am not writing:
As an avid sports fans, we support, and by support, I mean we get fanatical crazy for Angels baseball and Packers football. My daughter and I are the craziest of the bunch.
Phil and I occasionally go kayaking, hiking, and often take walks on the pier.
I am grateful to live 20 minutes from the beach and an hour from the mountains. Both are my happy places where God’s remarkable power and incredible beauty are on display to inspire and encourage.
I love a sunrise, sunsets, clouds, and my husband graciously indulges my requests to stop on the side of the road to take pictures…many, many pictures.
I love a good puzzle. We have some for every season or occasion, from 50 to 1500 pieces.
I am NOT a coffee drinker, but I love my hot chocolate on a chilly winter night.
I love cozying on the couch with a good book and blanket, when I can find the time.
My preferred method of unwinding in the evening is watching a predictable romantic comedy or an intriguing murder mystery. I know, somewhat of a contradiction, but I own it.
I dabble in floral décor and set design for holidays and special events. I enjoy making a room look beautiful and inviting.
Chocolate…dark chocolate, chocolate w/nuts, chocolate ice cream, the aforementioned hot chocolate, chocolate brownies or fudge (from my specially requested recipe) …Chocolate!
